Terrafugia a small, privately held company has recently gained FAA approval for its roadable aircraft (i.e., flying car), and new improvements to the vehicle's design bring it only about a year away from being available to customers, according to Forbes and MSNBC.
Named "The Transition," Terrafugia's flying car takes the notion of driving a hybrid to a whole new level. The latest model features a more car-like look, with traditional headlights and even a license plate holder. Other new fixtures include an improved wing that folds up with a touch of a switch, like in a convertible car, rear-wheel drive with a continuously variable transmission, independent suspension and even a futuristic touch screen interface in the cockpit.
On ground the vehicle folds its wings up to achieve legal street-ready dimensions. The concept is for users to be able to drive it from their own garage to a nearby airport, allowing for independent, convenient travel. At the very least, it would help drivers bypass those annoying airport wait times.
The flying car will be an expensive proposition.Estimated price for a first-generation Transition is slated at around $194,000. Though that's out of the price range for the average consumer, it's at least an important first step toward bringing childhood fantasies of driving a flying car closer to reality.
The launch date will be in late 2011.

The gearbox has a shift time of just 150 milliseconds. The transmission was a first generation "clutchless" design from the late 1990s, and there have been complaints about its abrupt shifting.

The Enzo Ferrari has 4 wheel independent suspension with push-rod actuated shock absorbers which can be adjusted from the cabin, complemented with anti-roll bars at the front and rear.

The Enzo uses 483-millimetre (19 in) wheels and has 381-millimetre (15 in) Brembo disc brakes. The Enzo uses 19" wheels held by a single lug nut and Bridgestone Potenza Scuderia RE050A tires.

The Malibu was an extensively used body style in NASCAR competition from 1973 to 1983. The Laguna S-3 variant in particular was extremely successful during the 1975-77 racing seasons, allowing Cale Yarborough to win 20 races in those years as well as winning the NASCAR championship one year. As it was considered a limited edition model, 'NASCAR' declared it ineligible for competition following the 1977 season, even though (given NASCARs three year eligibility rule) it should have been allowed to run thru 1979.

Beginning in 1981 the downsized Malibu body style was eligible to run, but given its apparent boxy shape only one driver Dave Marcis ran it in 1981 and 1982 with one victory in a rain shorten race at Richmond Fairgrounds in 1982.

According to Motor Trend GM executives have been planning the next-generation (C7) Corvette since 2007 and have considered front-, mid-, and rear-engine layouts. The car was originally planned for the 2011 model year but will likely launch as a 2012 model. It may be delayed further, depending on the scope of upcoming CAFE regulations.

The C7 will reportedly feature a new next-gen small block from GM that will include technologies like direct injection, aluminum block and heads and a revised combustion system. The engine will retain the class pushrod configuration and will be reduced in size to only 5.5L. Despite the smaller displacement, the new V8 will produce more horsepower than the current LS3. Currently estimates put the horsepower at 440 hp. The engine for the C7 will be part of the new $890 million small block engine program that will be used in vehicles across the GM lineup.
