'RS' is the label Audi reserves for its maddest and baddest, and the company only does one such model at a time. The RS torch has now been passed on the A6,with scorching results.
The flared wheel-arches hint at the pedigree,It equipped with 20-inch wheels and carbon-ceramic brakes. Even them, there was little to signal the RS 6 's main secret:a hulking 5.0-litre V10,breathing through two turbocharges.

Switch the electronic minders off in a Merc E63 AMG,and it's as if thecar takes on an evil life of its own.No such demon is in the Audi RS 6,which is surprising, considering it has 580bhp to its name.
Instead, the acceleration feels like a controlled explosion, and the quattro-delivered traction means the tail doesn't wiggle around on you.Body control is excellent and so are the brakes,so driving fast in one is desperately easy.Deep down you'd want 580bhp to feel wilder than it does here, though.

The interior is sumptuous, and in a quirky twist, you can only have an RS ^ as a wagon for now so it's supremely practical.Buy one if you're only an occasional loon because driven sensibly,it's hugely refined and civilised. That V10 doesn't tug at the reins or invite trouble, either. The saloon appears in the first quarter of next year, but go on,have a sense of humour and try the Avant.
