Yes it looks similar to the first generation model, especially in profile, but the new Murano really is that - all new. It's built on the more rigid D-platform,which also underpins the Teana and Renoult Laguna, and has more upmarket aspirations. You won't mistake the Murano for anything else from the front - it's very striking with its slatted chrome grille, intricate headlamp and concave bonnet.

Cabin quality has taken ahuge leap forward over the old car with tight panel gaps and plenty of soft touch plastic in evidence. The hightlight of the interior is a multifunction colour display at the top of the dashboard, whicj shows radio and climate control information, as well as doubling up as a reverse camera screen with parking guide lines.

Nissan's highly acclaimed 3.5 V6has been carried over with some revisions and now produces 260bhp and 336Nm of torque, up from 234bhp and 318Nm. As smooth and punchy accross the rev range as ever, it's now mated to the latest generation Ectronic CVT, which is simply the best transmission of its type arround. It respond just like an intuitive automatic gearbox.

The high seating position means body roll through corners is quite noticeabl, and the steering isn't particalarly sharp. Still, the Murano proves srefooted in all conditions and very quite at a cruise.

Take its wide-raging talents into account, the Murano offers a great deal at the price. This is definitely one of the better SUV to hit the market.
