You might have seen many art cars so far, but this one will really outshine all of them. The woven car is artistic creation and the model used for the purpose is MG Midget of an early 1960s. Rest is the magic of the two creative artists Ann Conte and Jeanne Wiley, who have woven together the recycled and leftover materials.
Artists renovated an old clunker by re-skinning it in strong recycled and overstock materials. The vehicle is getting lot of attention in a new exhibit at the South Shore Art Center in Cohasset, MA along with many other art pieces.
The old MG Midget was holding firewood in a backyard and was somewhat dilapidated before the duo made the mind to revamp it into the fascinating peace of art. In order to weave its basket like exterior, artists used about 500 yards of overstock car seat belt material.
The hatched woven cover for the car was later bolted on to the metal. On the other, the interior of the car include seats, floorboards and windshield which was made out of the partially recycled material, Corian Terra made and donated by DuPont.
Also, the woven car is outfitted with handmade ceramic flowers, headlights and tail lights. This car will now be on display at DuPont’s booth at GreenBuild 2010 in November.
